I had the pleasure of spending some time with Bev Bergeron this week after I finished performing at the Entertainment Designers Network Showcase in Dade City, Florida. For those of you who are not familiar with Bev, he performed magic as Rebo the Clown along side Mark and Nani Wilson on weekly running television specials which started back in the early 1960's. After the show I joined Bev and his wife Eloise for a quick bite to eat nearby and got some interesting background on all of Bev's experiences performing on television with Mark and then later entertaining at theme parks all across central Florida. It was great to hear all his stories and I look forward to seeing them both again another time.

Well I just got back from the Phoenix area performing for the Kid's At Hope Golf Tournament and I couldn't resist stopping by Keirland in Scottsdale. Although they seem to have the spelling sleightly off on "Keir" but I guess it is close enough for me. A fellow magician friend of mine from Denver had mentioned to me that this place existed so I had to stop by and check it out for myself and do some shopping and have lunch while I was in town. Overall a fantastic trip though and I had a really great time seeing many old friends at the Kid's At Hope event at the Firerock Country Club in Fountain Hills, AZ.

Today I made a guest appearance on the morning show of Channel 12 News in Wichita, KS. I was performing a show later in the day to raise money for Trees for Life (treesforlife.org) which plants fruit trees worldwide to provide food and fuel in developing countries, so our show made a really good human interest story for them. Since I grew up in Wichita I got to see many old friends at the show that I had not seen in many years and we had a standing room only crowd of almost 200 people who made the show so worthwhile with both their enthusiasm and their generous donations to a great cause! A big thanks also goes out to all the Wichita magicians from the Wizard's Of Wichita that came out and supported the show.

This weekend Shelley and I performed for Grand Lake Plumming's annual holiday party. We opened with the costume change act and included two illusions in the show as well. It was a tight sqeeze getting the whole show into the Daven Haven Lodge but we pulled it off in the end. Afterwards we stopped into a nearby watering hole where we met a local named Otis (pictured below) who was having a drink as well (although be it from a bowl on the floor). And before long we were headed back to Denver the following morning. A busy month over all for holiday parties across the midwest for us, I am looking forward to having some time off after Christmas gets here and to going to Barbados in January!

This weekend I found myself in Grand Junction, CO at the LAF Comedy Club. I did three comedy magic shows over the course of the weekend and I had a great time working with Geraldo Pazzar. Mark Mathis (pictured with me below) MC'd the show we all had a really good time. A big thanks goes out to Geraldo and Mark for inviting me to the club and also to Tom Quan (Manager/Co-Owner of the Far East Restaurant where the club is located) for putting on a great show.

Well this year's public show for the Mile High Magicians was a huge success. "Magic Beyond Belief" had a great line-up and an enthusiastic sold-out crowd! We again found ourselves at the Lakewood Cultural Arts Center with a fantastic support staff as usual. After our MC Earl Reum got things underway, Shelley and I opened the show with a costume change act and our spiker box illusion. Next Brian Arkell took the stage and was soon followed by Frank Klein, Richard Nakata, Ann Lincoln, Doc Murdock, Ned Nedbalski and John T. Sheets & Corrine. Truly a great show! Producer Lindsay Smith and Director Chad Darnell did a great job and we all owe a big thanks to everyone who came out and supported the show including the members of the Mile High Magicians that were in attendance that night!

I just got back from the Wyoming Arts Alliance annual booking conference in Gillette. This is a great organization that connects performing artists with theaters looking for the best entertainment to suit their community. We had a trade-show booth for two days and performed at the showcase on Saturday as well. As the only magician at the conference, I really felt like I got to offer something rather unique as most of the entertainers were performing music and dance. Organizations and entertainers ranging from locations from Billings, Montana to Littleton, Colorado were present and I look forward to working with some of the great people that I met there again in the near future.

This week I helped the Colorado Springs Magic Club with their public show that benefited the American Red Cross. Royal Blue seemed to be the color for the day for most of us and we had a good time raising some money for a great cause!

Well this week I made a side trip from my journey to Toronto toward Niagra Falls, Canada so I had to stretch my trip just far enough to catch Greg Frewin's new illusion show. Fantastic performance and the dinner was great as well. Greg is of course very hospitable and takes a few minutes to chat with fans and fellow magicians after the show, posing for pictures and signing autographs as well. I highly recommend catching Greg's act if and find yourself anywhere near Niagra Falls.

Shelley and I traveled to Westcliffe, CO (West of Pueblo) this week where we performed two shows at the historic Jones Theater. Originally this building was an old west 1880's saloon untill it was finally converted into a theater house in 1928. We had a fairly light audience for the afternoon matinee show however the evening performance was at nearly full capacity. This was the first time many people there had seen a magician performing live and they let me know that they appreciated us coming out. Great crowd that night and we really had a fantastic time bringing our show to Westcliffe!

Tonight Shelley and I made a guest appearance at the Union Colony Center in Greeley for "The Illusionists" consisting of Lloyd Mobley and Linda (aka: Lloydini) , "Mr. Amazing Guy" (Brad Mayhew) and Thommy Razor & London. Between our four acts we put on a pretty good sized illusion show consisting of about a half dozen large illusions and we had a great time doing it. A fellow magician friend of mine from Kansas City happened to be in the area as were Shelley's parents who were visiting from Vancouver B.C., so it was great to have a few more "fans" in the audience also. We had a great time though and I really look forward to working with everyone again soon.

Well my very good friends and fellow entertainers Don Caldwell and Laura Dakin (yeah they are balloon artists as if you couldn't tell) got married this weekend in where else but good ol Las Vegas of course. (BTW Don was recently featured on the television special "America's Got Talent", he was the guy that climbed inside of the big pink balloon.) Master magician Jeff McBride was in attendance and the King himself presided over the ceremony at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chappel in genuine Las Vegas style. Many of their/our fellow balloon artist and magician friends like myself had traveled from as far as Boston, MA and Aurora, CO to wish the happy couple well. After the reception, we all went to see Penn & Teller's magic show and the whole weekend was a really great time. A huge congratulations again goes out to Don & Laura!!!

Shelley and I performed two illusion shows at the Nomad Theater in Boulder, CO on Saturday April 1st. We had a good crowd for both performances and we had a few fellow Colorado magicians from neighboring cities like Golden, Arvada and Westminster stop by to see the show. Dennis Michael, Bob Larue and Doc Mucdock all made it out. A big thanks goes out to these local magicians and the Boulder community also for helping support live entertainment and magic at the Nomad!

If you haven't been to Lannies Clocktower Cabaret you should check it out if you live in the Denver metro area. The basement of the clocktower has been beautifully restored to a late 1800's style parlour with a gorgeous stage and all the trimmings. I performed there the opening night of the cabaret show and I know Denver Magician Danny Archer has also made an "appearance". Tuesday night is always Vaudville night and you can check it out at Lannies.com. I have not as yet seen the Patsy Decline Show but I have heard great things about it and can't wait to see it when I get a chance to.

Shelley and I were featured on Channel 9 News in Denver on "Colorado & Company" at 10AM on Monday March 27. They told us that they had never had a magician on the show before so were were honored to be the first. We performed our favorite illusion the Spiker Box and a few bits of close-up magic also. Shelley and her family made the trek from Broomfield, CO to watch and even got some camera time as well.

This past weekend I made my way up to Leadville, CO and was hosted by The Golden Burro at Leadville's Ski Joring Competition and festival. This appears to be a sport where people are pulled on ski's behind a horse down the main street of Leadville untill they hit a jump and go for distance! I will stick to the magic thank you very much. So it was off to the Golden Burro to entertain tableside for the patrons there. After a nights stay at the Silver King Hotel I was on my way back to Denver. Thanks Dave for having me at the Golden Burro!

Today I made my way to Phoenix (well Mesa actually) to perform at the Variety Entertainment Showcase at Valle Del Oro. There was another magic act in the showcase (danceofillusion.com) and the rest of the acts were singers. I look forward to making my way back to the Phoenix area from Denver early next year for the magic show bookings that I recieved at the showcase. I didn't find any shows to go watch while I was there but I did stop by and see Barry Schor at the magic shop there in Scottsdale. I hope to meet with some of my Phoenix Magician friends when I return.

Shelley and I have just returned from Carbondale, Colorado (near Aspen) where we performed two nearly sold out shows at the recently opened Thunder River Theater. For Saturday night's show we had a great crowd of mostly adults who really went out of their way to let us know how much they enjoyed the show. Sunday's matinee perfomance was geared for younger audiences and we again had a great crowd and almost sold out again. I was really impressed with Lon Winston's (the theater's artistic director) efforts to make evething go off withought a hitch and to promote the show so well to the Carbondale and Aspen communities. I of course invited a magician or two from the Aspen, Colorado area (and the Roaring Fork Valley) to the shows and a couple of good friends made it out as well as my Uncle who lives near Aspen. We have been invited back next year and look forward to seeing the crowds at the Thunder River Theater again soon!

Today was a little different, I shot a TV commercial for Dish Network and their "Club Dish" promotion. The commercial will air only on Dish Network, so if you have it watch for my "magic hands" on your TV. Oh yeah, didn't I mention it is only my hands in the commercial performing a little magic but now you will know it is me. Dish Network / Echostar is based in Greenwood Village, Colorado near Denver so they contacted me directly and we put the commercial together soon after.

I just returned from a trip to the Boston area for the NACA convention and I stopped in to see the Le Grand David show in Beverly, MA. I have read about the show in magic magazines since I was a kid so it was great to finally get to see it in person. The whole show is set in a 1920's setting and is definetly worth seeing if you are in the Boston area. Beyond just being a great Boston Magician, Le Grand David and Company is truley a world class show that really should not be missed!

Last weekend was the annual public show for Denver's Mile High Magician's Society. "Magic Mania" 2005 had fairly low attendance but I thought that the show itself went very well and we had some really great Colorado Magicians taking the stage. Max Hapner opened the show and we continued with a line-up to include John T. Sheets & Corrine, Earl Reum, Doc Murdoc, Dave Elstun, Richard Nakata, Bob (the Omniboozoligist) LaRue, juggler Bill Patterson and of course myself. As a professional magician I am always looking for more great magicians to work with and I found some great acts this year in Lakewood. I look forward to working with some of these guys again next year at the Lakewood Cultural Arts Center!

This week I was in Orlando Florida performing at the NBAA convention for International Governor Services. I stopped by to see the Outta Control Magic Show at Wonder Works while I was there. Clever show and I enjoyed it, these guys have a high energy show with a unique style. Definetley two Orlando magicians with a future here! A fellow magician friend of mine from Lakewood, Colorado had suggested that I catch this show and I am glad that he did.

In October I found myself at the International Governor Service's booth at the NBAA (National Business Aircraft Assoc.) convention in Las Vegas. Being a former charter airline pilot and given that the convention is in Vegas I am really making the most of this trip. And as a Colorado Magician I can tell you that it is great to be in a city that has so many great magic shows in it. Caught a few shows that week including the World's Greatest Magic. I had given Dirk Losander and Jeff Ezell a ride to the airport from Lakewood to Denver International the month before when they were here lecturing to Denver Magicians so Losander and Luna returned the favor by getting me into the show. Paul Kozak, Joeph Gabriel, Kevin James, Roy Shank and of course Losander put on a great show and I look forward to seeing these guys perform again soon!
